Impact Blank Rhinos 2-0

Montreal Sports - Montreal Impact

Can this be a repeat of last season's USL Championship run? Hopes are high again after the Impact defeated longtime rival and the best team in the USSF in the Rochester Rhinos 2-0 at Saputo Stadium tonight. Last season began with much controversy, and then after a coaching change and some roster moves, the Impact came together in time to make it into the playoffs and took it all the way to win a championship.

Impact Now Winless in 5 as time Dwindles on 2010 season

Montreal Sports - Montreal Impact

The Montreal Impact looked poised to stay in this one against the Rochester Rhinos last Saturday night. They managed a game tying extra time goal at the end of the first half, however an all too frequent late goal given up in the 83rd minute led to the Impact’s 5th winless game in a time when every point is precious.

Impact Winless in 4 after 0-0 Draw Vs Baltimore

Montreal Sports - Montreal Impact

The Montreal Impact were in dire need of a win yesterday as they hosted the even lower seeded Baltimore Crystal Palace at Saputo Stadium in front of 12,443 fans.

They dominated the play from start to finish going 24-7 in shots. They perhaps had a rallying point, if not a wakeup call with the freshly announced release of Peter Byers. They put on a great spectacle for their faithful with a hit post and many great efforts thwarted by the opposing ‘keeper, but in the end, no goals to show for it and the eventual result would be a 0-0 tie.

Just prior to the start of their contest against the Baltimore Crystal Palace at Saputo Stadium tonight, the Montreal Impact announced the release of forward Peter Byers for what was described as “breaching the club’s policies on several occasions, and at the same time the terms of his contract”

Known infractions have been his tardiness to team practices as well as missing at least one team meeting entirely.

Impact Adding to the D with French Player Richard Pelletier

Montreal Sports - Montreal Impact

The Montreal Impact are continuing to add players to their roster calling them depth moves and while the recent additions have been on the offensive third, this time it is to help bolster the depleted and tiring d-line.

Young French defender Richard Pelletier , who presently plays for Stade Brestois in France is signed with Montreal for the remainder of this season as well as the 2011 season.
