Jan 07 Will "Leon" Romero Joins Bellator

One of Canada's best featherweight prospects has made it on the international stage with Bellator Fighting Championship. Will "Leon" Romero has been signed exclusively by Bellator and is excited to be competing in the 8 man featherweight tournament which will begin in April and be aired live on Fox Sports Net, as well as rebroadcast on NBC Saturday nights.

Mitch Gagnon, who was the only fighter to go to a decision with Romero, really wanted a rematch, but it looks like he will need to go down south in order to get that. We also know that there was talk with a match up with Quebec MMA star Thierry "The Surgeon" Quenneville. We know that Quenneville is looking for a home, and perhaps that match up could happen in the tournament...The Franchise will be bringing you an interview with the young undefeated Romero in the coming days. We did get this statement from Alex Caporicci, the matchmaker for Ringside where Romero fought his last two professional fights, "I am very excited to hear, officially, that Will Romero will be a Canadian representative in the upcoming Bellator Tournament. Will is a great fighter and great person to deal with and I am happy that he will get this excellent opportunity. Will really wanted to come and challenge for the Ringside Featherweight Title, but through no fault of his own, it did not work out. He has always been willing to fight all-comers and will get to show his pedigree in front of the world."

Important notes about his fighting career:

• Romero is undefeated with a 5-0 record (according to Sherdog.com)
• Romero was the first ever fighter awarded at title in Ontario, fighting for the IQMMA
• His fastest win was a 17 second KO over another prospect in Quebec's Guillaume Lamarche in his last fight.
• Romero was supposed to fight for a title at Rinside, but a suitable opponent was not found.
