W1 Update: Machan to replace Fyvie against Brito

Written by Gary "Rumble" Whittaker. Posted in Blogs - The Rumble

Jorge Brito will find himself facing a new opponent at W1 - Judgement Day on June 19th, in Montreal at the Colisee de Laval. Brito's original opponent, Eddie Fyvie, had to pull out due to a hierniated groin, according to W1 MMA President, Jack Bateman. Fyvie was looking to bounced back from a hard fought loss to a future title contender Antonio Carvalho, his 2nd straight loss, but only his 3rd loss in 11 pro MMA fights. W1 was quick to find a suitable replacement, as they inked Ryan Machan, who fights out of Alberta, Canada. Machan was a highly regarded prospected for the MFC promotion, who beat former XMMA LW champion Kajan Johnson in his last fight for that promotion. This will be Machan's 2nd straight fight in Montreal, after having fought for the Ringside lightweight title on April 10th.

For his part, Brito is looking to extend this 3 fight winning streak, and is coming off a great win over Jonathan Mix from the Wanderlei Silva camp in Las Vegas. Brito is a BJJ black belt, and his first rate ground skills were on display in his fantastic fight against Mix.
