UFC 113 in Montreal Moving Dates? Update on Bellator as well

Written by Gary "Rumble" Whittaker. Posted in Blogs - The Rumble

Despite earlier reports today from another MMA news source, The Franchise has not confirmed whether or not the date for UFC 113 has moved from May 1st to May 8th. We just got off the phone with Réjean Thériault, who is the public relations director for the Régie, and he said that at this point, it had not yet been confirmed to him. However, Mr Thériault was on the road at the time of our call, and did confirm that John Judd, the source used by the Internet site TOP MMA NEWS was reliable.

Mr. Thériault did confirm that the UFC had been looking at several dates, including keeping May 1st, going to May 8th or even moving the event earlier to April 24th, but that date has since been booked by another event.

I also asked if Bellator had submitted any dates yet, given their recent announcements of 2 Canadian fighters being added to their tournaments, but Mr. Thériault confirms that they had not done so at this time. Mr. Thériault continued to say that the Régie would continue to be open to making the changes to the current set of rules and regulations so as to allow Bellator to hold an event in Montreal, provided that their current level of fighter safety was maintained, and that the integrity of the fights were held to a high standard (ex: fighters must be of relative equal fighting weight, and experience).
