UFC 112 Quick Results
The UFC put on their first show outdoors, and the fans would have been better served had it been rained out. Instead, the fans spend most of the main card wondering when Jack Bauer was going to swoop in and save the UFC from making a mockery of what has been good Pay Per Views over the last several years. The only good that can come from the live card airing at 1pm, is the word of mouth through social networking which will prevent many more from making the mistake of purchasing this event for a whopping price of 49.99$. Seriously, if you rather watch people screwing instead of feeling like you are getting screwed, you can get those movies for 10.99$ each. Better still, if you have not purchased the event yet, I would urge you to watch Ringside Rage, which is available tonight through web streaming PPV for less than 10$.
Georges St-Pierre was at cageside, presumably scouting Anderson Silva, who could be his next opponent for his welterweight belt. But that was in discussions before Silva's fight took place, and before Dana White was seen storming over to Ed Soares, Silva's manager, between the 3rd and 4th round. In fact, none of the 3 main fights on this card was without controversy. Matt Hughes essentially made Renzo Gracie quit in the ring, only for Renzo Gracie to announce in his post fight interview that he would be back in the UFC. And BJ Penn seemingly forgot how to do anything put jab through 5 rounds and 25 minutes against the constantly moving Frankie Edgar. I feel sorry for Munoz, Grove, Dos Anjos, Etim and even Phil Davis who put on a great performance during the televised portion of the card. Especially Dos Anjos and Mark Munoz who battled from being caught and hurt early to win in dramatic fashion.
