Team Liddell vs Team Ortiz For Season 11

Written by Gary "Rumble" Whittaker. Posted in Blogs - The Rumble

As announced on the Ultimate Fighter Season 10 Finale by Dana White, Chuck "The Ice Man" Liddell will be back in the UFC to take on Tito Ortiz for a 3rd time. The last time these two fought was in 2006 where Liddell knocked out Ortiz for the 2nd time. However, Liddell was still in the prime of his career, and Tito had suffered a major back injury in his previous fight agaist Randy Couture, and he was never the same fighter since. This team they will be the coaches for Season 11 of the Ultimate Fighter reality series. Dana White talked about ring rust being an issue in Tito Ortiz' return match against Forrest Griffin, but given that the series will begin in the spring of 2010, I am not sure how he expects that same ring rust to not be a factor for either figher. Apparently season 11 will feature middleweight fighters (185).

Dana White had previously said that Chuck Liddell would no longer fight in the UFC, and had practically announced his unofficial retirement from MMA. This led to a public feud with between Dana White and Chuck Liddell's trainer, John Hackleman. How Chuck Liddell ended up on "Dancing with the Stars" is anyone's guess, but he is back in the UFC now, and hopefully for the UFC and Dana White, he brings with him a much broader demographic and audience to help grow the sport of MMA.
