Steve "Lionheart" Vigneault Set To Face Shonie Carter on Nov 20 at W1 in Montreal
After they break "New Ground" in Halfax, Nova Scotia on October 23rd, W-1 MMA will return to Montreal on November 20th with a card that will include none other than Quebec's own Steve "Lionheart" Vigneault! "The Lionheart" was an early pioneer in the sport of MMA, and if Quebec had a hall of fame for the sport, Steve Vigneault would certainly be a first ballot inductee. He has battled the likes of Sean Pierson, David Loiseau and Patrick Cote in his illustrious career, including an appearance in the UFC against Mike Swick, all while going 12-6 in the process. This will be Vigneault's first fight in just over a year since coming out of retirement to beat Dan Chambers at Ringside MMA - Rivalry in November, 2009.
He will take on wily veteran Shonie "Mr. International" Carter, who, in 2 appearances for W-1 MMA, is still looking for his first win. A veteran of over 80 pro MMA fights (according to Sherdog, but closer to 100 if you ask him), this will be a battle between to warriors who know their way around an octagon, and who certainly know how to give the crowd their money's worth.
This was first reported by Ultime Fanatic, and confirmed to The Franchise by W1 President Jack Bateman.
