Shogun vs Machida Likely For Montreal

Written by Jordan Small. Posted in Blogs - The Rumble

After being snubbed out of a unanimous decision last month, Mauricio "Shogun" Rua will likely be heading to Montreal to get his redemption at becoming UFC champion. The projected date for Shogun's clash with light heavyweight champion, Lyoto Machida, is expected to take place Saturday May 1st in the Bell Centre. Rua's highly controversial loss created massive amounts of negative fan feedback towards the three judges who scored the fight. All three judges had the fight in Machida's favour by 48-47. UFC President Dana White said he had Rua winning the fight at UFC 104 and swiftly guaranteed Shogun a rematch.

The last time Shogun fought in Montreal was earlier this year in April at UFC 97. In a highly entertaining bout, Rua brought the boom to UFC legend, Chuck Liddell, with a thunderous TKO of the first round.

The rematch between Machida and Rua will be accompanied by the ruthless and notorious Bell Centre crowd. And if history tells us anything, they'll be letting Machida know just how they feel about things.
