Ringside MMA Rising Star: Weigh Ins and Lineup changes information released
(For immediate release) January 4th, 2011, Montreal – Ringside MMA’s next event, titled “Rising Star” will take place on January 15th, 2011 at Club Soda in Montreal. This new series of galas will showcase the future stars of MMA. With eight fights having already been announced, changes to the fight card have been made over the course of the holidays.
It is with great regret that we must announce that Samuel Charbonneau has pulled out of his grudge match against his Victoriaville rival Yohan Gariepy, due to an injury. However, noted prospect Jeff Royer (2-1) from Sherbrooke is more than ready for the challenge. Royer’s only loss of his career was at the hands of Yohan Gariepy’s teammate, Kevin Morin. This will be Royer’s first fight since having suffered the loss, so he will certainly have revenge on his mind. Meanwhile, Gariepy will be looking to give Team Legion their 2nd won over the Sherbrooke native.
Gregory Carpenter also suffered an injury during training camp, and as a result, must be replaced in his fight against Eric Daigneault. Daigneault (0-1-0), made his professional debut last November when he fought at Ringside MMA: Payback, where he lost to Victoriaville native Michael Pellerin by submission. Daigneault will now get a chance for his first professional win against a teammate of the man who beat him in Maxime Dubois (0-0-0). Don’t be fooled by Dubois clean record, he has several amateur fights under his belt. Like all his Team Legion teammates before him, Dubois will no doubt rise to the occasion and battle like a warrior in his first pro fight.

The official weigh-ins for Ringside: Rising Star will take place on January 14th at 1pm within the Hotel Espresso, located on 1005 rue Guy, in Montreal (http://www.hotelespresso.ca). Fans from outside of Montreal are invited to stay at the official hotel for Ringside MMA’s Rising Star fighters, a venue which underwent a complete renovation making it both modern and luxurious yet affordable and of course, non-smoking.
