On The Rise: Goodall looks to make it three in a row at Elite 1

Written by Derek Leblanc. Posted in Blogs - The Rumble

After almost a two year layoff, in May of this year, Ricky Goodall made his
return at Extreme Cage Combat Nine after nagging foot injuries only to lose to
fellow middleweight Kurt Pelletier . Since then he has gotten back to back wins
and now will fight in the semi main event at Elite 1's: Resurrection Saturday
night in Moncton, New Brunswick. The problem is he needs a new opponent after
Pelletier dropped out.

"Steve (Williams, Elite 1 owner) assures me that I will have one. I just
don't know exactly who," says Goodall.

"Kurt messaged me the other day and told me he was dropping out. I wanted to
fight Kurt and get that lost off of my record. I am assuming that I will be 4-1
after this fight. I am not sure if this rematch is in my future."

While a rematch with Pelletier is not looking bright, Goodall future is he
keeps up the pace he is going on. He has been impressive in his last two fights
with wins over Jeremiah Bernard and Meneka Weva. After his win against Bernard
at ECC 10, Warrior contacted him about his services to fight at there last
event. Goodall declined the fight since it was only a two week window to
prepare. While Goodall does not have a fight completely set in stone for
Saturday, he feels the help from friends at Titan's gym will make his name
bigger in Atlantic Canada.

"Are training is always hard. Were in better shape so we get pushed further.
If we have a stalemate with our training partner, we will switch it up,"
Goodall.

"At Titans, we train twice a day both early morning and late nights. I feel
like I have no life but that is the way it goes, We have a different approach
here. We are training with some of the best. If the opponent is a good stand up
guy, I am training with Rob Walker or Roger Hollett. If he is a good grappler or
wrestler, I am training with Kevin Taylor. If my opponent is at my level that I
don't think it will any outcome of my fight. I got to fight my fight and adopt
to the opponent when he gets into the cage."

Either fighting seems to be plan for most fighters, Ricky has some other
ideas is the fight games doesn't pan out. He is currently taking business at
Nova Scotia Community College where he plans to run his own entertainment
company. He has been busy with that working with a couple of local acts in the
Halifax area. He has been involved with business in his hometown of New Glasgow
including his own mixed martial arts event called East Coast Fight Productions
in August of 2008. While time management can't be handled by everyone, Goodall
has got it in tact.

"I have always been person, luckily the lifestyle is something I've grown
accustomed to," says Goodall

"I don't have a girlfriend nagging at me, begging for my attention. I live my
life the way I want too. My teachers are usually pretty understanding, lucky
they are fans as well. So when I tell if I'm late on a paper or if I'm late for
a test, they are understanding. I am not partying all the time and they know
that."

Whatever it will be in the cage, on the phones or behind a business table,
Goodall looks to have a bright future ahead of him. A win on Saturday could push
him in at least one angle in his life. He is hoping with a win, a fight in
Quebec could be soon.
