MFL 4 on March 12: Desilets and Vigneault on the card
MFL President Dirk Waardenburg has announced via his facebook page that MFL will back for their 4th event on March 12th, 2011. The event will take place at Centre Pierre-Charbonneau, and will be headlined by Martin Desilets (11-2), who was recently re-instated by the RACJ (Quebec Athletic Commission). "Stress" Desilets has not fought in Quebec since he avenged an earlier loss to Todd Gouwenburg at XMMA 7 in February, 2009. Since then he has fought, and defeated Victor Valimaki twice and current holds the TFC light-heavyweight belt.Desilets will take on veteran fighter Anthony "Wild Thing" Rea (20-13) in the main event. Rea has fought the likes of Rich Franklin, Jason MacDonald, Cyborg Santos, Marvin Eastman, Jason Guida and Vitor Belfort.
Also on the card is Quebec MMA legend Steve "Lionheart" Vigneault (12-6). Vigneault has not fought since November 2009, but has been training hard for multiple fights since that time that for one reason or another, have not come to fruition. In his way on his comeback trail is Matt Macgrath (9-4), a tough fighter out of Titans MMA, who is coming off a big win over a once highly touted prospect in Ryan Machan.This is expected to be the co-main event.
According to FightWorld.TV, who was the first to break the story, rising prospect and cousin to Steve Vigneault, Guillaume Vigneault is expected to also be on the card. There are also rumors of a female bout on the card, something rarely seen in Quebec MMA unless it involves Valerie Letourneau.
