
Matt Jordan Retires
This morning at Saputo Stadium Matt Jordan announced he is retiring after 13 years of playing soccer professionally.
The 35 year-old Colorado native spent eight seasons playing in the MLS with Dallas, Columbus and Colorado. He has played the last four years of his career with the Montreal Impact.
It was also announced this morning that Matt Jordan will now take on the position of "Director of Soccer Operations." His job will consists of assisting Nick De Santis by acting as the liaison between the Impact and the MLS head office when it comes to trades, players signings and releases, player loans, as well as the acquisition of foreign players.
Originally Matt intended to come back as the goaltender for the 2011 season. He signed a player contract about 8 weeks ago but upon further reflection he decided to retire and take on the new position that was offered to him Director of Soccer Operations. He wanted more stability for his family and they will be relocating to Montreal permanently
Nick Di Santis was given the position of sporting director for the club. He will over see all the soccer aspects of the club and will work closely with Matt Jordan.
