LASHLEY GETS GRIM

Written by Jordan Small. Posted in Blogs - The Rumble

Strikeforce's newest powerhouse Bobby Lashley won't be taking time away from the cage. After a dominating performance over journeyman Wes Sims, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker has revealed Lashley's next big challenge. Bobby will match skill and strength with Brett "Grim" Rogers and all 6'5, 265 pounds of him. If everything comes to fruition Coker expects these two mammoths to collide sometime this Spring.

Lashley sports a perfect professional record of 5-0 with four-first round stoppages. On the other side of the cage, Rogers had been perfect at 10-0 until he met one Fedor Emelianenko last November. Now his only loss has given him more motivation and more ill-will towards his next opponents.

Bobby's days of hand fed fights are now behind him. Bobby had said he wanted to slowly buildup his career as a mixed martial artist. However, just six fights in he'll get a potential career changing opportunity against a top ten opponent. The heavy-handed Rogers will be the first test to see if Lashley is as UFC commentator Joe Rogan says "For Real" or not.

You can guarantee Rogers will bring it much like he did against Fedor. Brett became the first man in three-years to take Emelainenko into the second round but was TKO'd in under two minutes. Rogers' performance impressed the MMA world though and he gave Fedor one of his toughest tilts to date. It will be interesting to see how Lashley handles himself against a power-puncher and it's almost a guarantee this heavyweight showdown won't go the distance.
