IFC Cancelled
IFC event for Halifax is scraped
It looks like the perfect storm will not be making its way to h\Halifax. International Fighting Confederation's: A Perfect Storm that was set for June 4thhas been canceled. The fight card was going to feature such fighters as former UFC stars Tim Sylvia, Jeremy Horn and local fighters like Jason Mackay and Roger Hollett. SRO entertainment. The company who was putting on the event scraped it for one reason.
“It was a lack of ticket sales,” says Jack Livingston, CEO of SRO entertainment.
“We came out of the box with 604 tickets sold over the entire weekend. So that probably means it on line for about 1500 people. When you got great mixed martial arts guys like we had on that star studded card, they don't want to fight in a 10 000 seat building in front of 1500 people and lets be honest the response was not there. For whatever reason, people weren't enticed enough or didn't want to see it. We wanted to wait till the last minute and were not in the last minute game.”
While fans may question as to why cancel the event after the first weekend of ticket sales, it is not as if Livingston tried. The event was advertised throughout Atlantic Canada. There were advertisements on Television, Radio and Newspapers across Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. Also he was to get a feature story on CTV's Live at Five which is a popular show along the maritime provinces. Fans who did get tickets will be able to get refunds. When asked if Livingston plans to try and put on a mma event in the future, he said just not at the present time, so there is least some hope in the future.

Maybe if they got popular fighters to headline the fightard they would have sold more tickets. Tim Sylvia is fat, out of shape, and not well liked. Wes Sims is a bum. He looked terrible on the last Tuf show on spike. Get some better fighters and I will buy tickets for sure...

Obviously he didn't really didn't know how to market a MMA Event or did any research on promoting a MMA event ! He got cold feet or prematurly Ejaculated! What a damn shame! He should be banned from ever printing an MMA show EVER!

Unfortunately, promoters couldn't take the chance of late ticket sales or walk ups when they probably had to dish out good coin to the main eventers like Tim and Wes. They may be done as UFC brand fighters, but that "former UFC fighter and former UFC HW champ" adds a zero versus what the local guys get.
