Grandmont Subs In For Gauthier Vs Clements at Ringside II

Written by Gary "Rumble" Whittaker. Posted in Blogs - The Rumble

Derek Gauthier has suffered an injury during his training for his first main event, as he would have faced his biggest challenge to date in Chris Clements at Ringside II on August 22nd. Replacing Derek Gauthier will be someone that Chris Clements has faced before, in Martin Grandmont. These two fought each other at TKO 26 in Victoriaville, Quebec, with Grandmont being stopped in the 1st round by TKO due to strikes. Chris Clements is a very dangerous striker, and has the record for the fastest KO in MMA history (a record that was recently tied). With losses also to Aaron Tregear, Cory MacDonald and Sam Stout, Grandmont seems to have difficulty against fighters from Ontario. This will be a striking clinic, as Grandmont himself is a dangerous kickboxer. Grandmont had been fighting at lightweight, including a thrilling victory in his last fight against Mark Holst at Warrior One, but wanted this fight so badly that he moved up to 170 pounds to fight Clements. This is a must see main event!
