DREAM'S LHW TOURNAMENT HEATS UP
For the third consecutive year Dream is challenging fighters from across the globe to participate in their yearly tournament. The 205-pound division is centre stage in 2010 and has confirmed the participation of standout combatant's Renato "Babalu" Sobral, Rameau Sokoudjou and Strikeforce's light heavyweight champ Gegard Mousasi. The opening round of Dream's first ever light heavyweight grand prix will begin on May 30 at Dream 15.
The Japanese based promotion is expected to announce shortly whether a 16-man or an eight-man tournament will be held. The concluding rounds are expected to take place in the summer and fall.
As it stands, Mousasi is the favourite to win the grand prix followed by Babalu. These two fighters met last August in Strikeforce for the light heavyweight title. Despite being the champion, Babalu was grounded and easily defeated in 60 seconds by a barrage of punches from the top.
