Denis Kang - Top Canadian MMA Free Agent

Written by Gary "Rumble" Whittaker. Posted in Blogs - The Rumble

After being released recently by the UFC, Denis Kang seems to be spending his time looking for a new home to continue his stellar fighting career. Kang had made a big name for himself overseas, having rattled off 19 fights without a loss, including winning the Spirit MC Heavyweight title. It was one of the reasons why the UFC signed Kang and put him on UFC 93 that was held in Ireland. I spoke with Denis Kang briefly at Fight Quest 10, where he was supporting team members from Zahabi MMA, and while Kang was going to be heading down to Sunrise, Florida to check out the Strikeforce Miami card live, he did not rule out signing to a Canadian MMA promotion. I will admit that most of the conversation centered around the recent approval by Vancouver to allow a 2 year trial period in which MMA events could be held there, but Denis Kang was more than willing to sign with any promotion here in Canada. Which means, Pavelich (MFC), Bateman (W1), Champoux (RS), if you are reading this, you can acquire Canada's top free agent MMA to help move your promotion from a local draw with limited national interest, to an internationally viewed event. Kang has been spending much of his time in Montreal training at Zahabi MMA with some of the best fighters in the world, and bringing him into your promotion locally in Montreal will not only help your ticket sales, but will get the networks leaving you voice mails as well.

DenisKangMany newer MMA fans outside of Kang's hometown of Vancouver, BC, may only know Denis Kang from his 3 appearances for the UFC, in which he was 1-2. It must be noted that even in Kang's two losses, Kang was extremely competitive and his record could very well have been 3-0, had in not been for the fact that he got caught in his debut against Alan Belcher after dominating him, and then seemed to gas in the 2nd round against Michael Bisping after dominating the Brit all through the 1st round (there was some rumors that Kang had been hit with the flu just prior to the match). In fact, Kang received an extra check of 40k for a "Fight of the Night" in his last fight with Bisping. So let the fighting begin, and may the most serious promotion ready to take the next step win.
