Cyborg, Mousasi crowned, Full Strikeforce Results
What a night for MMA fans! Strikeforce proves itself to be a legit contender to match up quality for quality against the UFC. We will have a better view as of tomorrow as to the numbers the Strikeforce PPV did against the UFC airing UFC 100 for free, a tactic that they have used successfully in the past. However, this time word of mouth regarding the quality of the entire televised card for Strikeforce will undoubtedly help boost sales of future Pay Per Views, especially once Fedor is added to the lineup. Santos becomes the new female champion and already the internet is swirling with names as to who could possibly take her belt away. While some may question why the referee did nowt allow the fight to be stopped by the bell, people should understand that it is not the referee's job to measure how a fighter is doing against the time remaining. It is the fighter's job not to allow themselves to be put into a position where they cannot intelligently defend themselves. Gina was in a fetal position while Santos was reigning down hard punches that were virtually unblocked. Moreover, Carano was not in a position to stand up and walk to her corner even if he had waiting that extra second.
Mousasi shows that he is the real deal as he becomes the new Strikeforce LHW champion by demolishing Babalu. Melendez gets a satisfying victory for himself personally, as he avenges a loss against Ishida, but he will not declare himself an "interim" champion. There is only 1 true champion, and for Melendez that belt belongs to Josh Thomson...for now. Werdum proves that there are legit heavyweight contenders in Strikefroce
