BJ Penn On GSP "He uses steroids"
In a recent interview with Kevin Iole, BJ Penn made the following statement about Canadian Georges St-Pierre:
“It’s just my opinion that he uses steroids. That’s it. My opinion. I do believe it. I can’t hand you any proof, but that’s my opinion.”
BJ Penn has been screaming at anyone who would listen to him about how he lost to a greased up Georges St-Pierre, and I suppose when people stopped listening to him, he decided to throw an even more serious allegation. Perhaps Penn is hoping that the relaxed laws that Canadian courts have regarding libel lawsuits will prevent the St-Pierre camp from launching a full scale class action against him, but this is started to get ridiculous. With all the talk about how BJ Penn was a rich kid that grew up fighting in the streets of Hawaii, but trained as hard as he did because he wanted to, and not because he had to, we now start to see the other start of what being a rich kid in Hawaii meant. Is he simply posturing up to make a 3rd fight between himself and St-Pierre marketable? I don't think so. Penn, who appeared to be much more concerned about watching what he said this time around against Kenny Florian, may only have been doing so since he has too much St-Pierre on the brain.
Bottom line, UFC fighters are tested at some point during the activities for the event. St-Pierre has never been identified as someone who has used performance enhancing drugs either. It was clear from the direction BJ Penn's camp took in preparing for Florian that Penn needed to step up his own strength and conditioning. It's already clear to me that BJ Penn talks bravely about what he fears. He thought he would make GSP quit, but in the end he quit. Now he thinks St-Pierre is taking steroids...well, let's wait for your own test results BJ.
