Avon Brings It Home for 28-24 Win over BC Lions

Written by Gary "Rumble" Whittaker. Posted in Blogs - The Rumble

When the game was previewed on The Franchise Weekend morning show on the Team 990, the key to victory was stated clearly: Get Cobourne the ball via the outlet pass to relieve the pressure from the BC Lion pass rush. The Alouettes seemingly have not taken the pass rush seriously, perhaps due to the fact that it had previously only contributed to 1 loss prior to their last game against BC. The Lions made them pay by preventing the Alouettes from scoring an offensive touchdown for the entire game. However, Calvillo found Cobourne 7 times on Sunday for 59 yards, which helped open the running lane for him in the 4th quarter when he ran in a 12 yard touchdown to win the game 28-24.

Calvillo ended up leading the Alouettes in rushing yards, and probably took a few too many needless hits from the other team. I am sure the Alouettes will be sitting Calvillo down and showing him the video of Donavan McNabb breaking a rib doing the same thing.Adrian Mcpherson may be the "heir apparent" as the quarterback, but he is seemingly being better prepared to replace Cobourne than Calvillo.

Alouettes also released 2 press releases

Glen Weir honored before Alouettes game
