And Then There Was 31

Written by Gary "Rumble" Whittaker. Posted in Blogs - The Rumble

Well, I could be talking about the emergence of Carey Price playing as a solid number 1 goaltender, leading the Montreal Canadiens to a 6-2 pre season victory over the Florida Panthers. But the 31 in this case is the number of players who remain with the NHL club following 2 series of cuts made by the Habs on Monday.

After announcing that the club had cut 18 players this morning, a list that included heralded prospects Louis Leblanc and Jarred Tinordi, the Canadiens have just announced that 5 more players have been cut.

It was a busy day for the Montreal Canadiens press release staff, as they also had to work on the announced that Maxime Lapierre was awarded the Jean Beliveau Trophy, an honor which was presented before the game tonight by Mr. Beliveau himself.
