Alouettes Get 1st Win of Season over Edmonton 33-23

Written by Gary "Rumble" Whittaker. Posted in Blogs - The Rumble

The Montreal Alouettes finally get their first win of the season against a team that may have once been considered their arch rivals, in the Edmonton Eskimos. However, with a week 1 loss to Saskatchewan, I think the Roughriders currently hold that distinction. The Alouettes are finally over their first big hump, 1 - by getting their first win of the season, and 2 - winning against a very tough Western Conference team. The Alouettes scored 22 unanswered points in the 2nd half to come from behind and beat the Eskimos 33 to 23 in Edmonton.

The Franchise also got over it's first big hump of the early season, and Nick Murdocco has taken 1st place in a friendly pick 'ems pool hosted by Missed Field Goal and Sean Campbell. I find myself only a game behind tied for 2nd place.

Here is a breakdown of the game courtesy of TSN and the Associated Press. Of course, the TEAM 990's CFL expert Sean Campbell also provides his thoughts on Game 2.

And no story would be complete without looking at it from Edmonton's perspective. Here is Dan Barnes, from the Edmonton Journal, take on the game, while Derek Van Diest, from the Edmonton Sun,  looks at the matchup between Edmonton's Fred Stamps at WR versus the Alouettes Jerald Brown.

Montreal will now face the BC Lions in Vancouver on Friday at 10PM EST, a team that the Alouettes have not beaten in BC since 2000.
