Alouettes Find Their #2 in Win over TiCats

Written by Gary "Rumble" Whittaker. Posted in Blogs - The Rumble

There was no Calvillo, there was no Gator Chomp, there was no Florida gear for the offensive line, there was only Adrian McPherson doing what he could both on the air and on the ground to help lead the Montreal Alouettes to a convincing 27 to 6 win over the Tiger-Cats in Hamilton Saturday afternoon. Combined with a loss by the Toronto Argonauts, the Alouettes staved off the potential for a 3-way tie and kept sole possesion of 1st place in the East division. This was Adrian McPherson's first action this regular season, since missing half of the season with an injury he suffered in the final exhibition game against Toronto.

No word yet on if Calvillo will be back against the struggling Edmonton Eskimos, but you have to wonder if Avon Cobourne wouldn't welcome him back with open arms. McPherson literally ran wild against Hamilton, picking up 121 yards on 16 attempts, compared to Cobourne's 52 yards, including a late touchdown. Perhaps standing right behind Cobourne would be early stand out SJ Green, who has only caught 5 balls for 43 yards when he had been averaging 4 catches and almost 65 yards per game with Calvillo at QB.

Here is Dean Edwards from the Hamilton Spectator with his view on the Hamilton loss.
