Hominick Goes WEC, Tito is Back in the UFC and More
I was able to pull together 2 videos that show most of the conference call that took place on Friday between Dana White, Tito Ortiz, and the media. I've already commented on the Fedor situation, but there was a couple of other key points that come out of that call. Canadians will be happy to hear that Mark Hominick was said to be now part of the WEC. MMA CANADA believes that Hominick will be fighting at WEC 43 against Deivadas Taurosevicius. This would be Hominick's 3rd fight for the WEC, and he will still be looking for his first win. Taurosevicius is a veteran of the IFL and holds a victory over Dan Lauzon. Sporting a 10-3 record in MMA, his last 2 losses were against Ryan Shultz and Frankie Edgar. This would be Taurosevicius' first bout in the WEC.
Canadian Content Added to UFC 102
Former TKO heavyweight champion and TUF Alumni Krzysztof Soszynski has signed to replace Matt Hamill and will face Brandon Vera at UFC 102 on August 29th in Portland, Oregan. Canadian fight fans will already have Tim Hague to cheer for as he takes on undefeated prospect Todd Duffee in a heavyweight contest. Soszynski has not lost in his lost 6 fights, with the last 3 of those wins coming in the UFC. However, Brandon Vera represents a much higher level of competition than he has faced, arguably in his career. This will be a classic striker vs grappler matchup, unless Soszynski wants to start a new streak of KO victories. He had submitted his last 3 opponents by the same Kimura submission until he knocked out Andre Gusmao in the first round. Soszynski will stand and trade with anyone, and he shows great patience in waiting for an opportunity to take his opponent down and getting the submission. Vera, a muay thai specialist, could test the limits of Krzysztof's patience early. Vera has responded to harsh critiques of his lack luster performances in his last fight, by upping the tempo and intesity level of his strikes. This could be a phenominal war between the two fighters.
King Of The Cage canceled in Halifax-By Derek LeBlanc
It was on and over just in a flash. King of the Cage: Decadence was set to take place August 1st at the Halifax Forum but was canceled yesterday by the Nova Scotia Boxing Authority. The main event was to feature Tristan Johnson against Nick Denis for the featherweight title. The event was canceled for various reasons.
"The company (KOTC) has obligations to deliver to us for their 14 day meeting and they didn't have all those met," says Micky MacDonald, head of the Nova Scotia Boxing Authority.
"They didn't have the contracts, they didn't have the medicals and they didn't have a full card so we can't sanction an event that close to the event with having all those things in place. At the end of the day, it is the consumer that suffers. We have 30 day meetings and they have to deliver so many deliverables and then a 14 day meeting which they have to deliver the rest and the didn't have the requirements to meet the sanctioning for the event."
Fedor Comments on Barnett, Wants Rogers Before Belfort
In a press release issued by M-1 Global President Vadim Finkelchtein and M1- Affliction 3 headliner Fedor Emeliananko, they deny reports that Victor Belfort has officially replaced Josh Barnett on the up coming August 1st card. According to Finkelchtein, "the fans" want to see Fedor fight Brett Rogers, not Belfort.
Fedor, who counts Josh Barnett as a friend, simply said that he was "disappointed about this situation" in reference to Barnett failing a drug test for the 2nd time in his MMA career. Read the press release for all the details.

UFC 103: Swick vs Kampmann, Winner Gets GSP!
Dana White has announced in the following press release that current UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre will face the winner of Mike "Quick" Swick and Martin Kampmann. Those two will square off in Texas at UFC 103 on September 19th. Both of these fighters have recent history against Canadians, as Kampmann turned down a fight against TJ Grant, and Swick defeated a personal friend of GSP's in Jonathan Goulet. St-Pierre is resting up his injured groin and will soon be going down south on vacation, a new tradition he has been doing since his last couple of fights.
Las Vegas, NV (USA) – As the old adage proclaims, everything is bigger and better in Texas. On Saturday, September 19th, the Ultimate Fighting Championship® (UFC®) will prove it as the organization brings one of the most talent-rich events of the year to the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas for UFC 103. Featuring four pivotal bouts with world title implications as well as a main event still to be announced, the star power on the UFC card, which includes Mike Swick vs. Martin Kampmann, Efrain Escudero vs. Cole Miller, Josh Koscheck vs. Frank Trigg and Tyson Griffin vs. Hermes Franca, will more than light up the Texas night.
