17 Als named Eastern All-Stars

We all knew the Alouettes were the best team this year in the CFL, but when 17 Alouettes were named All-Stars marking a new high in league history, the exclamation point has now been made to end what has been a record high for the Alouettes this regular season. Calvillo, backed by a MVP worthy season, led the Alouettes to a Franchise best record of 15 wins in 18 games. Kicker Duval did his part by getting a new CFL record in points with 242.

The Alouettes have arguably been the best team in the CFL since 2000. No other team has had as many Grey Cup appearances as Montreal (with 6), but all that will be for not if Calvillo cannot lead the Als to their 2nd Grey Cup this decade. Here is the full list of Montreal All Stars:

Quarterback: Anthony Calvillo (7th selection - 2000, 2002-2004, 2006, 2008)
396/550 (72 per cent*), 4,639 yards, 26* touchdown passes, six* interceptions, 108.4* quarterback rating.

Running back: Avon Cobourne (2nd selection - 2008)
15* touchdowns including 13* rushing, 224 carries, 1,214 yards (5.4 avg.), 56 receptions, 458 yards, 1,672 yards from scrimmage, eight touchdowns.

Receiver: Jamel Richardson (2nd selection - 2008)
85 receptions, 1,055 yards, nine touchdowns in just 16 games.

Receiver: Ben Cahoon (10th selection - 1999, 2000, 2002-2008)
89 receptions, 1,031 yards, two touchdowns; passed Don Narcisse for most receptions and receiving-yard in CFL history.

Receiver: Kerry Watkins (4th selection - 2005, 2006, 2008)
81 receptions, 1,243 yards, eight touchdowns.

Tackle: Josh Bourke (2nd selection - 2008)
2008 East Division All-Star in his first complete season as a starter.

Guard: Scott Flory (8th selection - 2002-2008)
2008 CFL Most Outstanding Lineman and 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2008 East Division Most Outstanding Lineman.

Centre: Bryan Chiu (9th selection - 2000-2006, 2008)
2002 CFL Most Outstanding Lineman, eight-time CFL All-Star (2000-2006, 2008).

Defensive tackle: Keron Williams (2nd selection - 2008)
32 tackles, eight sacks, four tackles for losses, three fumble recoveries, one forced fumble.

Defensive end: Anwar Stewart (3rd selection - 2003, 2004)
38 tackles, nine sacks, two tackles for losses, four forced fumbles, five knockdowns.

Defensive end: John Bowman (1st selection)
33 tackles, 11 sacks, five tackles for losses, five* forced fumbles.

Linebacker: Chip Cox (1st selection)
81 tackles, three sacks, seven tackles for losses, one interception for 21 yards, five* forced fumbles.

Cornerback: Mark Estelle (2nd selection - 2008)
48 tackles, three interceptions, eight knockdowns, two fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles.

Free safety: Matthieu Proulx (1st selection)
Four interceptions for 82 yards, 29 tackles, two knockdowns, one fumble recovery.

Kicker: Damon Duval (3rd selection - 2007, 2008)
55/62 on field goals (87.3 per cent), 242** points, 56 converts, 21 singles.

Punter: Damon Duval (1st selection)
109 punts for 4,884 yards (avg. 44.8)

Return specialist: Larry Taylor (1st selection)
788* yards and two* touchdowns on 89* punt returns, 1,059 yards on 51 kickoff returns, 124 yards and one touchdown on two missed field goal returns.
