Who Got Shot?

If you have heard my radio show on CJLO.com, almost every Sunday morning I am complaining about how crazy the media is on a regular basis with Montreal Canadiens hockey players. Unfortunately for the Habs, it doesn't just stop with them, it seems to carry over into the Habs fans. The latest incident that has raised the ire of both was the arrest of Ryan O'Byrne and Tom Kostopoulos. Fans and media alike in Montreal are more outraged over a questionable incident involving the two players than the backlash Atlanta had towards Michael Vick for murdering dogs. Their mug shots were posted everywhere and the fans were irate on the message boards on all the major Canadian websites. This story is far from being over folks, as something does not make any sense. Why would a professional hockey player steal a cell phone and 20$ from a woman at a bar? How complex of a story would you have to weave to try and get any sort of malicious intent out of it? Ryan did not try and do anything seriously wrong. From all reports, it was questionable, but far from being seriously wrong by any stretch of the imagination.
Habs fans should be encouraged by the fact that despite the fact that a teammate was being carted off to jail, a teammate rushed to his aid, and made sure that the young rookie was not being taken to jail by himself. That is all Tom was doing when he was arrested. For years, Habs fans have been complaining about the lack of solidarity between the Canadien players, something that has improved to such an extent that they are willing to go to jail for one another. Come on people! This is a team that just get ripped by the best team in the conference, and the players were out on a night with no curfew.
So wake up people! Stop looking for trouble and enjoy the best Montreal Canadiens team that we have seen since the last time they won a Stanley Cup!
