The Montreal Impact (5-5-2) play their 13th USL division 1 game of the season against the Charleston Battery (7-2-6), Sunday, at Saputo Stadium (3:30 pm, Radio-Canada, CKAC  Sports, THE TEAM 990, USLlive.com).

The Impact, presently in 6th place overall in the USL first division standings with 17 points, will surely have their hands full against a Charleston team that is presently sitting in 2nd place with 10 points more than their Montreal rivals.  Montreal, looking to regroup after their last outing in ortland that saw them lose 4-0, a game that also included a Montreal own goal late in the 2nd half.

Charleston, who recently won their last game against Puerto Rico, had lost the previous two to the same team. Both teams will be looking to have a statement game since the last two matches between Montreal and the Battery ended in 0-0 draws.

“Every time we play against a team that is ahead of us in the standings, we need to earn a maximum of points,” said team captain Mauro Biello. Biello has recently seen  a return to action after suffering different injuries since last season. “We need to continue playing well at home and send a message to the other teams in the league that it’s not easy to play at Saputo Stadium.”

The team's record since coach Marc dos Santos came in to replace John Limniatis is 5-2-1 and he always sums up the competition and what the Impact need to do to pull out the win.

“The game against Charleston is very important for us.This is a good team on the road that defends extremely well. Their success can be explained by the fact that they always field the same lineup. They come here with a strong and stable defense that will rely heavily on counterattacking. This game would give us the opportunity to reach the 20-point mark and to be 8 points from first place.”

Still not able to join the team due to injuries are Defender Cédric Joqueviel (thigh) and midfielder Patrick Leduc (foot). Defender Stefano Pesoli is still recovering from a knee injury but could take part in the match.
