USL - Montreal Impact Head to Florida, Look to Leapfrog over Miami FC
The Montreal Impact (6-8-4) face Miami FC (7-8-3), this Saturday, in Miami and with only two points sepparating them in the standings , with a win, the Impact would be back in 6th position in the USL First Division standings.
Coming off a recent USL 4-1 victory and come from behind 2-2 draw, as well as a respectable showing against French Division-1 Champs FC Bordeaux, coach Marc Dos Santos maintained, “We need to approach this game with the same attitude than when we faced Bordeaux. I hope that game will gear us towards a positive sequence.”
Dos Santos also knows that Miami is also aware of their situation in the standings. “We are playing against a team that is fighting like us for a place in the playoffs, therefore it’s a game we need to win. We will need to make the right choices on the field and try to make them pay on dead ball situations.”
After healing injuries for most of the past season and the begining of this one, captain Mauro Biello who has been getting his share of time on the pitch recently, will look to gnaw away at the 62 minutes that remain to give him a grand total of 25,000 minutes played in his career with the Impact. He will be the first player in club history to register this record. Truly a testament to his fortitude, passion and leadership on this team.
Not making the trip due to injuries is an increasingly growing number of players; Defender Cédric Joqueviel (thigh), midfielders Stephen deRoux (face), Félix Brillant (knee) and Patrick Leduc (foot).
Also not making the trip are midfielder David Testo and defender Adam Braz will also miss the game as they are both serving a one-game suspension due to an accumulation of five cautions in the season.
Kickoff is at 8PM
