A Home Game to Forget
On a night where many were looking for other angles than the game itself, this one was full of them.
Montreal Juniors coach Pascal Vincent facing his old team for the first time this year, an older, bigger Screaming Eagles team than the Juniors. How about the return of Luke Adam, now assistant captain for Cape Breton? And lest we forget that in the Adam trade, Montreal received their eventual captain Nicolas Chouinard. Many angles, many little battles. A one sided game.
The only bright spot for the Juniors in this almost no-show, an unpleasant surprise, given that the team was of to an inspired start this season, were the two goals scored by Chouinard in the 1st and Eliezer Sherbatov in the third.
Other than this, the Juniors were outshot, outplayed, left goaltender Jean-Francois Berubé to fend for himself, getting outshot 33-23 and gave up 2 goals on 6 power-play chances. They were also assessed 2 back to back “too many men” penalties in the second period alone. Montreal did not help their struggling power-play percentage, now at a miserable 16.5%, going 1-5 last night.
The Juniors’ schedule does not get any easier in the next few days. Their next four games are going to be against the leaders of each of the Q’s 4 divisions: Quebec, Drummondville, Gatineau and Moncton.
Please read on for the Juniors game recap.
