Remparts Reign over Juniors 5-3
The Montreal Juniors faced the Patrick Roy’s Remparts in Quebec City and although it was a close affair in the first 2 periods, the Remparts, with a 3 goal third period were victorious by the score of 5 to 3
The Juniors struck first as Jeremy Gouchie put the puck past Louis Domingue for his seventeenth of year from Matthew Brenton and Jeremy Gouchie at 7:58 of the first. Just two minutes later, Remparts Marc-Olivier Vallerand tied the game on the power play from Mikhail Stefanovich and Patrick Cusack. The first ended with a 1-1 tie.
The Remparts took the lead in the second as Vallerand scored his second of the night, yet the Juniors came right back just 40 seconds later when Guillaume Asselin put his seventeenth of the year past Domingue to again tie it up. This is where the fun would end for the Juniors.
The Remparts would erupt for three straight goals in the first six minutes of the third with Dmitri Kugryshev, Dominic Savoie, and Mikhail Stefanovich all tallying for the Remparts. Juniors’ Chris Thorne potted his twelfth of the season, but it was a bit too little, too late as the Remparts would go on to defeat the Juniors by the score of 5 to 3.
Juniors netminder Jean-Francois Berube took responsibility for another loss as he made 27/32 saves. Remparts goaltender Louis Domingue made 27/30 stops for the win.
The Juniors record now stands at 24-22-2-3 and they now move on as their road swing continues. First on the schedule is Drummondville as they take on the Voltigeurs on Saturday before they head to Val-d’Or for a Tuesday matchup. The Juniors will make their return to Montreal next Friday as they take on the Val-d’Or Foreurs at 7:35PM.
