
QMJHL - Montreal Juniors' Last Away Game Ends in 6-3 Loss To Rimouski Océanic
Playing in their final away game of the regular season the Junior took on the Rimouski Océanic on Tuesday night. Unable to produce any offense until the final frame, the Junior fell by a score of 6-3.
Jean-Francois Bérubé got the call in goal tonight for the Junior, with Jake Allen getting the night off. Rimouski got themselves on the board at 9:22 of the first, after the Junior ran into some penalty trouble, taking three of the five infractions called in the first period. Down a goal entering the second, the Junior fell behind 2-0 as Philippe Cornet scored the lone goal of the frame, and Rimouski’s second of the night at 8:13.
The final frame, saw plenty of offense with a cumulative five goals in the first nine minutes. Jordan Caron scored just 53 seconds into the period, while Olivier Fortier and Alexandre Brunet tallied for their team, before the Junior would respond. Louis-Marc Aubry would get the Junior on the board at 6:16, while Guillaume Asselin and Nick Layton would each tally a goal.. Keven Veilleux and Alexandre S. Brunet also scored for Rimouski, the game ending with a final score of 6-3 in Rimouski’s favor. Eleven penalties were assessed in the final period.
The Junior will return home and play on Friday March 13th against Rouyn Noranda at 7:30, followed by their final regular season game on Sunday afternoon versus Val d’Or at 4:30pm.
