Proulx and Taylor Named CFL Players of the Week (8)
The Montreal Alouettes’ honours keep piling up as safety Matthieu Proulx and return specialist Larry Taylor have been named CFL Players of the Week for Week 8.
Proulx, named Canadian Player of the Week, had two interceptions for a total of 43 yards and recorded 4 tackles on the night, three defensive tackles and one on special teams in the Als’ 34-25 win against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Proulx is tied for the league lead with four interceptions this season. With this total he already has more than the total of his previous seasons combined, going back to 2005. His tackles tally is now at 19, equaling at the midway point of this season, last year’s career best total as well. Safe to say this is a breakout year for the veteran saftey.
Taylor, named Special Team Player of the Week, scored an impressive 68-yard punt-return touchdown, also in the game against the Roughriders, finishing with 125 combined yards, including 74 on four punt returns and 51 on a kickoff return.
Taylor is second in the CFL with 1,019 combined yards. Look for more breakout runs from this wide receiver as Montreal’s 2008 Most Outstanding Rookie and Special Teams Player tends to get testy when he is unable to go for the long run during games.
