Pizzolitto and Pesoli re-sign With Montreal Impact for 2 More Years.

This week the Montreal Impact announced that central defenders Nevio Pizzolitto and Stefano Pesoli will both be back in Impact uniforms for 2 more years starting with the 2009 season. These 2 defenders were part of the Montreal defensive nucleus that led Montreal to the second best defensive record in the USL.
Pizzolitto, a 15 year USL veteran and Montreal mainstay as he served as team captain in Mauro Biello's absence due to injury, had been a calming force on the pitch throughout the season and constantly led by example. It is no wonder that he had recently been named USL D1 All-League First Team as well as being named Impact Defensive Player of the Year for 2008, the second time he has earned this honor while in Montreal.
Pesoli, an Italian acquisition from the 2008 pre-season did not take long to adapt to the North American and USL style of play and quickly earned the respect of players and coaches alike. He not only aided the Impact in preventing the opposing strikers from getting too many shots on goal, but contributed with two goals of his own during the 2008 USL season. He also scored one goal and played 630 minutes in the CONCACAF Champions League. It is no wonder that he was named Newcomer of the Year after starting 23 games in his first season in North America.
