Not Too much Fun in The Sun For Montreal Impact as Atlante FC takes Final Game of CONCACAF 2-1

In their last game of 2008, a game that was arguably irrelevant as both teams were already qualified for the quarterfinals in the CONCACAF Champions League, the Montreal Impact lost 2-1 against Atlante FC last night (Tuesday) at Olimpico Andrés Quintana Roo Stadium, in Cancun, Mexico.

With this loss, the Impact officially finishes second in Group C in the CONCACAF Champions League group stage. Midfielder Joey Gjertsen opened the score for the Impact at the 4th minute of play but Atlante would come back with goals from defender Clemente Ovalle and forward Gabriel Pereyra.

The quarterfinal round will kick off in February 2009.Teams and schedules to be announced.
