
Montreal Juniors Road Trip Off to Good Start With 5-4 Win Over Val-d'Or Foreurs

The Montreal Juniors began an extended road trip on Friday night as they faced off against the Foreurs of Val-d`Or with a 5-4 win at the Air Creebec Cente.
The first period saw a flurry of goals, with Angelo Esposito banking his 17th and 18th goals of the season. Nick Layton, the Juniors leading scorer, also notched two goals, while captain Matt Fillier tallied another. Kevin Guerette-Charland, Samuel Morneau scored for Val-d`Or, with their teammate Alexandre Monahan scored two for Val-d`Or. Montreal Juniors goalie Jake Allen made 28 saves on the night, bringing his team to a 24-17-1-1 record as they embark into the second half of the season.
With his two goals tonight, twenty year old Nick Layton now sits atop his team in points with 54 on the season, including 20 goals, in 43 games. Teammate Luke Adam is tied at 20 goals as well.
The team will continue their road-trip tomorrow night in Abitibi when they faceoff against the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies at 7:30pm. The Juniors will then face Drummondville on January 22nd, and the Lewiston MAINEiacs on the 24th. The team will then return to Abitibi on the 27th, before they make their way home to the Verdun Auditorium for a matchup against Halifax on Monday February 2nd.
