Montreal Juniors kick off 2010-11 Season with Optimism
Montreal, June 29th, 2010 – The Montreal Juniors Hockey Club launched its third inaugural season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League today, at Orlando Restaurant at the Centropolis in Laval.
Team president Martin Routhier started off the day’s activities, providing everyone present with information concerning the Juniors’ new features, including the presentation of four special pedagogical games, organized in collaboration with school boards across the metropolitan region. The games are scheduled to take place on four school days during the week, before noon. Moreover, in recognition of minor hockey associations across the Greater Montreal region, the Montreal Juniors’ Community Hockey Days’ program will enable thousands of young hockey players to partake in games featuring the Juniors, a team that promises to be one of the most exciting in the QMJHL, with several star players on board.
Head coach and general manager Pascal Vincent spoke about his new roster, featuring highly-touted acquisitions Francis Meilleur, Charles-Olivier Roussel, Charles Landry and Philippe Lefebvre, as well as newly NHL-drafted forward Louis-Marc Aubry, selected in the 3rd round, 81st overall by the Detroit Red Wings this past Saturday afternoon. Since its inauguration three years ago, 10 NHL-drafted players have been featured on the Montreal Juniors’ roster.
‘‘The Juniors’ organization was well-represented this year in Los Angeles, proving that we continue to develop our athletes at a world-class pace,’’ Vincent said, adding that Juniors’ goaltender Jean-François Bérubé’s recent invitation to Under-20 Summer Development Camp by Hockey Canada is in itself another example of the Juniors’ dedication to all their players’ endeavors.
The 2010-2011 season officially gets underway at 7:05 p.m on September 10th, 2010, at Verdun Auditorium.
