Good morning Montreal Impact soccer fans. And judging by the sold out Saputo Stadium, there are more and more of you every day! It has been a week of moving and shaking for your 7th consecutive Voyageur Cup winning Impact. Not necessarily on the field as their last USL game was a 2-0 loss to the much despised Rochester Rhinos, but there have been quite a few changes affecting the team that I'd like to bring you up to speed on, for those keeping score.

Speaking of the Voyageur's Cup Champions, the Impact are indisputably Canada's team going forward, and will be playing a home and away tournament with the Nicaraguan champions to see who advances in the CONCACAF Champion's league with the first game to be played here on August 27th and the next in Nicaragua on September 2nd. In order to facilitate this, and in order to rectify certain schedule conflicts, the Impact announced some changes to their calendar.

The changes include a game against the Portland Timbers, initially scheduled on August 27th, which has been moved to September 8th, while the September 3rd match against the Rochester Rhinos will now be played on August 13th. for the full story:  http://www.montrealimpact.com/News/News.aspx?language=EN&ArticleID=942&Focus=0

The Impact also announced the addition of 2 new mid-fielders this week.

27 year old Brossard native Félix Brillant joins the team after a stint in Norway. While he does have some USL experience, his scoring tally is not that of the stellar nature, however Technical Director Nick De Santis had this to say about Félix: "He showed us great skills during training in the past few weeks. This acquisition gives us even more depth.” Full story: http://www.montrealimpact.com/News/News.aspx?language=EN&ArticleID=942&Focus=0

Sandro Grande should definitely feel right at home as the Impact just inked him to a contract for the remainder of the season and perhaps are in the process of talking more long term. Grande is not only a Montreal native, but also played for the Impact back in 2004 (when they were USL Champions) before heading off to Norway to fine tune his sport. Coach Limniatis has high hopes for his newest midfielder saying “He is a very good player who will bring experience and character to the team. The wealth of experience gained with the Impact but also in Europe and with the national team makes him a first rate player. He will bring leadership and professionalism on the field as well as in the locker room.”  Read on at : http://www.montrealimpact.com/News/News.aspx?language=EN&ArticleID=944&Focus=0

That being said, this current edition of your Montreal Impact are back to business this week as they meet the Railhawks in Carolina this Friday night as they work their way out of last place in order to get into the playoffs before season's end. Then, according to the revised schedule, they come back to Montreal to play those pesky Rhinos... It's fan appreciation night, so I hope to see you there !
