The Montreal Canadiens have just recalled defenceman Doug Janik from the Hamilton Bulldogs. As mentionned on last Sunday's show, it was unclear as to whether Andrei Markov and/or Mathieu Schneider would be available for tonight's home game vs. Ottawa. I believe we may have just received a hint that at least one of them is not game ready.

Someone who is game ready is Carey Price, who has recovered from the Flu. With this return, Goalie Marc Denis has been sent back to Hamilton. It is not yet clear whether Price will be starting or in backup mode.

We'll keep you posted as the stories develop. Please read on for the Janik press release.

The Montreal Canadiens announced today that defenseman Doug Janik has been recalled from the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League.

Janik, acquired from the Dallas Stars on February 26, registered five points (5 assists), 10 penalty minutes and posted a plus-4 rating in 17 games with the Bulldogs this season. Before joining the Canadiens' AHL affiliate, Janik, 29, played in 13 games games with the Stars in 2008-09, collecting one point (1 assist) and two penalty minutes.

He also played in four games with the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs (0-2-2). Drafted in the second round by the Buffalo Sabres, 55th overall in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, Janik (6’2’’, 211 pounds) amassed 16 points (3 goals, 13 assists) and served 121 penalty minutes in 159 NHL career games with Buffalo, Tampa Bay and Dallas.
