Mathieu Schneider - Andrei Markov : Lengthy Injuries

While The Franchise has not yet received the official word from the Habs, rumour has it that you can scratch both Mathieu Schneider and Andrei Markov from the Montreal Canadiens' line-up for a while.
Not only will neither be dressed for tonight's game against the Ottawa Senators, but you can count Markov out for at least 3 weeks and as for Schneider, well, let's just say that he may have played his last game, yet again, in a Habs uniform.
Both players underwent MRI's today after suffering different injuries during Saturday's game versus the Toronto Maple Leafs. Apparently, it would seem that Schneider will have to undergo season-ending shoulder surgery while Markov (knee injury) might return by the end of the month. That is, if the Canadiens are still playing hockey by that time.
With this major blow to the Habs who are now deprived of two key elements to the power-play, which has come on of late. The Canadiens, however, are not playoff bound just yet. They still need at least 3 points in the next 4 games if they are to secure a spot in the post season.
To replace Schneider and Markov, Bob Gainey has retained the services of Ryan O'Byrne and Doug Janik, recently called up from Hamilton.
