The Montreal Impact hadn't won any of their first four 2009 USL games and appeared set to tie a franchise worst 5 game winless streak set back in 2001. They appeared outplayed, if not outclassed last night against a more committed Toronto FC team in the first matchup of the Nutrilite Championship tournament and with the recent suspension of Sandro Grande for having "broken a team rule", the writing may have been on the wall for coach John Limniatis that perhaps his message was no longer coming through to the team.

The Impact confirmed any suspicions anyone may have had when they announced today that Marco Dos Santos was named interim head coach, replacing Limniatis for the time being.

Dos Santos will be able to count on the services of Andrea Di Pietrantonio, who held the same functions last season, Mauro Biello, who becomes player-coach, and Youssef Dahha, who remains goalkeeper coach.

Please read on for the full Impact press release.
