We have just learned that after just one game, a game in which he performed rather well,  Kyle Chipchura has been sent back down to join the Hamilton Bulldogs. Don't read too much into this, as we shouldn't have read too much into it yesterday when he was called up.

Bégin was sick, Andréi Kostitsyn was not going to play, Christopher Higgins did not get the green light to play and big George was nursing a groin pull. With almost a week before the Habs play (Saturday against Anaheim) most, if not all of those players will be good to go, leaving no room for Chipchura on the bench.

Read on for the official Canadiens Press release.

MONTREAL (October 21, 2008) – The Montreal Canadiens announced today that forward Kyle Chipchura has been assigned the AHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs.

Chipchura, who played 11:26 minutes yesterday in his first game with the Canadiens this season, started the campaign in Montreal before joining the Bulldogs on October 16. In 2008-09, Chipchura scored one goal in four pre-season games with the Canadiens, while posting one assist and a plus-1 rating in two games with the Bulldogs.

Last season, the 22-year-old centreman compiled 11 points (4 goals, 7 assists) and 10 penalty minutes in 36 games with the Canadiens. He finished the 2007-08 campaign with Hamilton, notching 21 points (10 goals, 11 assists) and serving 27 penalty minutes in 39 AHL contests.
