Juniors Training Camp Underway, First Cuts Announced
The Montreal Juniors got their sophomore season rolling this past week as their pre-season training camps began in the Montreal area. Rookie camp took place on the 17th and 18th while the veterans took to the ice on the 19th and 20th with all players looking to crack the final roster for the 2009-10 season.
With training camp, however, come the inevitable cuts and after two days of camp, defensive players Richard Greer (MA, USA), Félix-Antoine Poulin (Ste-Julie) and Nicolas Dunn (Hull) and forwards Alexander Stephenson (Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue) and Yannick Geoffrey (Saint-Hubert), were sent on their way for this season.
The Juniors are expected to announce the final roster in the next few days.
The Juniors played the Shawinigan Cataractes tonight in their first of 6 pres-season games at Colisée Jean-Béliveau in Longueuil. The two teams will meet again on Sunday, August 23rd, in Shawinigan. Game recap to follow.
