Juniors To Honour Emile “Butch” Bouchard

The Montreal Juniors are announcing that they will honour Émile “Butch” Bouchard on Friday, October 2nd, at 7.30 pm at the Verdun Auditorium, prior to their game against the Saint John Seadogs. Some in attendance may even meet the former hockey star, and his sons Pierre and Émile.
Bouchard won 4 Stanley Cups whiloe a member of the Montreal Canadiens and was captain of the team for 8 seasons. He always led by example on the ice by punishing any forward that would enter his zone, separating him from the puck and quickly passing it out to his teammates, sending the play the other way. Bouchard was one of the more feared players in the league and was rarely asked a second time by opponents to drop his gloves.
Émile « Butch » Bouchard left his mark in Montreal’s junior hockey history from 1939 to 1969 as a player, coach, general manager, team and league president and journalist. Since 1976, the QMJHL's Defenseman of the Year Trophy is named in his honor. “Butch” Bouchard was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1966.
