Juniors Take Game 3 on the Road in Convincing 5-2 Win Over Gatineau

Written by Nick Murdocco. Posted in Blogs - Nick Murdocco

The Montreal Juniors took a 1-1 first-round tie into Gatineau’s Centre Robert-Guertin tonight, eager to do what they hadn’t been able to do during the regular season:  win in Gatineau. The Juniors would go on and do just that, as well as take a 2-1 series lead and restore home ice advantage with a 5-2 Victory over the Olympiques.

Pascal Vincent’s Juniors came out aggressively in the second period. Trevor Parkes took advantage of a Juniors power-play, scoring his third goal of the playoffs.  Vincent Bourgeois was the next to light the lamp for the Juniors, and Parkes’ second of the game  and 4th in 3 games, gave the Juniors a 4-1 lead that they would never relinquish.  Gatineau would come to within 2 as Hugo Laporte scored minutes before the two teams went back into the dressing rooms.

In the third period, Juniors’ forward Louis-Marc Aubry was the only scorer of the game as he iced the win for the Juniors as they now restore home ice advantage in the series.

Goaltender Jean-François Bérubé stopped 22 of 24 shots for the Montreal squad, while Maxime Clermont made 19 saves defending Gatineau’s net.

The two teams will face off again this Wednesday, March 24th at 7:30 p.m. at Centre Robert-Guertin before returning home for Game #5, Friday, March 26th at 7:35 p.m.  If necessary, Game #6 will be played in Gatineau the next day at 7 p.m., whereas Game #7 would be in Montreal on Tuesday, March 30th at 7:35 p.m.
