Juniors Rally to defeat Mooseheads 2-1

Written by Nick Murdocco. Posted in Blogs - Nick Murdocco

The QMJHL Montreal Juniors were back in action at the Verdun Auditorium Wednesday night as the hosted the Halifax Mooseheads. Also back in action was Jessica Rusnak who provides us with her game-points and insight on the eventual 2-1 victory for the Juniors.

The Juniors come back from a 1-0 deficit to beat the Mooseheads.

The Halifax Mooseheads took the lead in the first period thanks to a goal from forward Martin Frk assisted by Andrew Ryan and Trey Lewis.

The Juniors were trailing the Mooseheads all the way until the third period when blueliner Jean-Laurence Beauchemin scored to tie the game at one. The assists went to Nashville prospect Charles-Olivier Roussel and Philippe Fontaine. It was Raphael Pouliot who scored the game winner assisted by Xavier Ouellet and Tampa Bay prospect Charles Landry.

JF Berube had the night off giving Etienne Marcoux the start in goal. He stopped 19 of 20 shots. Mooseheads goaltender Fred Piche stopped 34 of 36 shots.

Major issue with the Juniors right now is not playing a full 60 mins. It is a reoccurring theme every game but for the majority of the time they have been able to come out with the win.

Louis Leblanc is having a little bit of a slump right now. He seems very frustrated with himself. Pascal Vincent is not really concern it is common for World Junior players to slump once they return.

NOTES: The West Division leading Juniors travel to Shawinigan on Friday for a divisional matchup with the Cataractes.
