4 seconds. That was the difference between a win and the eventual loss that the Montreal Juniors suffered at the hands of the Drummondville Voltigeurs yesterday afternoon. To add insult to injury, clinging to a 1 goal lead after being down by 2, the Juniors would lose, while shorthanded in overtime. Final score Drummondville 4, Montreal 3.
Drummondville now sits at 4-0 while Montreal falls to 1-2-1 while they are without the services of 7 of their key starters including number 1 goaltender Jean-Francois Bérubé.
It was not number 2 Étienne Marcoux, however that was between the pipes for Montreal, as rookie William Racicot got the nod from coach Vincent as he stopped 25 of the 29 shots sent his way.
Denis Kindle scored 2 and Dylan Anderson got his second in as many games for the Juniors but without stating the obvious, the games lasts 60 minutes and not 59:56 as Marc-Olivier Vachon scored his second goal of the night to tie it up and Drummondville’s Sean Couturier ending it in the last seconds in overtime.
The Juniors are at home for the next few including Friday and Saturday, September 24th and 25thwhere they will host the Saint John Seadogs, and the Val d’Or Foreurs respectively.
With NHL training camps coming to a head and preseason play about to begin this week, perhaps some of the Juniors starters will be back in time to lend a hand.
Read on for the official Juniors game recap.
