There’s something to be said about taking a team lightly and perhaps this is what the Juniors did in their 4-1 loss to the Val D’Or Foreurs yesterday at the Verdun Auditorium.

The first period started off well enough for Montreal who ended up out-shooting Val D'Or 13-3. The 2nd period, however, was a different story. Val D'Or scored 3 goals on 9 shots against World Juniors prospect Jake Allen. Simon Lacroix, Samuel Morneau and Olivier Dallaire with the tallies for Val D’OR.

Montreal’s Eli Sherbatov and Guillaume Asselin were told to hit the showers in the second intermission as coach Pascal Vincent wanted to make it clear to his team that he expected more from his players. Vincent went on to say he’s not afraid to bench players during a game no matter who they are and will do it again if players are not performing.

Another World Juniors prospect, Marco Scandella made it 4-0 in the 3rd, and Louis-Marc Aubry ruined the Foreurs shutout bid with the only Juniors goal with just under 5 minute remaining in the game.

Please read on for the Juniors game recap.
