While the Montreal juniors looked dominant as they took care of Halifax last Friday night, extending their unprecedented winning streak to 5 games, the rest of the weekend proved that there is, in fact room for improvement and patience as well as an even temperament will be required while following this young team. Not to mention the need to perhaps look at the impossible 3 games in 3 days scenario in the QMJHL.
Something has to be said for the fact that Montreal had to play 3 games in 3 nights and that perhaps the end results had something to do with it, however, one would think that all teams have to go through this at one point in the season, so in the end, it all works out. but should it even have to "work out" ? Could there not have been at least 1 day's rest between any of those games to give the players a chance to recharge? Again, as long as it is "fairly" dispersed among all QMJHL teams, then I gues there is some harm, but no foul...
The Juniors win against Halifax with a 5 goal effort by Nicolas Chouinard, Friday night, then they rolled into Moncton and required a Philippe Lefebvre goal with one minute left in the game to send it to the shootout where extra shooters were required before the Juniors fell 3-2, and with whatever reserves were left, the team trucked on to St John where they fell to the Sea Dogs by a score of 5-2
Read on for the Moncton and Sea-Dog game recaps.
