Juniors Hand Mooseheads 4-1 Loss
The Montreal Juniors continued their 5 game road swing with a second straight win as they handed the Halifax Mooseheads a 4 to 1 loss. Juniors captain Nicolas Chouinard was again instrumental in the outcome with a goal and an assist.
The Juniors scored four unanswered goals in the second period which saw them score on both Moosehead goaltenders (Mathieu Corbeil-Theriault made 12/15 saves and was replaced by Peter Delmas who made 11/12 saves.) before the period was through.
Nicolas Chouinard, Loic Poudrier, Matthew Brenton, and Hugo Roux tallied fore the Juniors and Halifax’s only goal came from Gerrad Grant in the third period as Montreal net-minder Jean-Francois Berube came up big once again as he put aside 29/30 shots.
Bérubé has really stepped up and assumed his number 1 status since the beginning of the World Junior Championships, but more so since the Juniors traded Jake Allen to Drummondville earlier this week.
The Montreal Juniors will now head to Saint John NB where they will face the top-ranked Sea Dogs tomorrow. They will play the Titans on Sunday in L’Acadie-Bathurst before they conclude this road trip against the Oceanic in Rimouski on the 15th.
The Juniors will return to the Verdun Auditorium on Sunday, January 17th, when they face the Victoriaville Tigers at 4:05PM.
