The Montreal juniors completed their 4 game homestand with a 4-1 victory over the Baie-Comeau Drakkar in a game that most are speculating as goaltender Jake Allen’s final game as a Junior.
Allen, in one of the worst kept secrets in the QMJHL, is rumoured to be heading to the St John Seadogs in exchange for players yet to be named. The Seadogs are in the midst of their 21st game in a row with at least one point.
While the first period was tentative for the Juniors who allowed the first goal against, Montreal eventually took over the game with Chris Thorne scoring two goals while Eli Sherbatov and Alex Wall also tallied to round the score out for the Juniors.
Allen, who was credited with the win and faced 26 shots while the Juniors managed 34 on Baie-Comeau’s Simon Giroux. Fittingly, in the end, Allen was named the game’s first star as a general “thank you” for his last two seasons in Montreal. It would appear that the Jean-Francois Berube era has begun in Montreal.
